Four Lenses®, a worksite or community-based program, is designed to enhance understanding of individual personality types to create successful learning and working environments and strengthen relationships.
No peer-reviewed publications evaluating the effectiveness of this program were located.
Four Lenses is a hands-on training workshop that includes a personality assessment and a book titled, Four Lenses Unfolded – A Deeper Understanding of Temperament Values. Participants complete a temperament assessment to discover the talents, attitudes, preferences, and needs of themselves and other individuals with whom they associate (e.g., loved ones, work partners). Results of this assessment can help participants learn to create a common appreciation for others and a shared value system that helps the participants understand how they and other individuals uniquely view the world around them. After completing the assessment, participants have the opportunity to complete online training modules, read books, and engage in an online community.
The assessment is based on the following four key temperaments from which all personality styles are derived:
By learning about these four temperaments and how they make up an individual’s personality style, participants can better understand themselves and others around them. In this way, the Four Lenses program can foster self-reflection and social awareness among participants to help them learn how to better understand people, communicate assertively, strengthen leadership skills, excel in the workplace, minimize conflict and stress, instruct difficult learners, motivate resistant individuals, create healthy relationships, and parent difficult children and teens.
In-person and virtual workshops are available. Please visit the first website in Source for more information.
The personality assessment was developed from the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator and has been used around the world by millions of individuals since 1993. Workshops have been implemented among Service members of the Air Force and Marines Corps and at Yellow Ribbon events.
Any individual can facilitate this program, but facilitators must become certified in Four Lenses. Upon certification, individuals are then licensed to use Four Lenses in their organization. Online certification courses are available through Shipley Coaching. Please use details in the Contact section to learn more.
