This program is delivered to providers and staff who work with children and adolescents age 3 years old and older in all areas of human services and parents, grandparents, and foster parents and is intended to impact providers, adults, children, and adolescents.
Handle With Care® Behavior Management System (HWC), a community-, medical setting-, or school-based crisis management training program, is designed to provide participants with knowledge and preventative skills needed to safely manage children and adolescents who engage in disorderly, destructive, violent, and self-harming behaviors.

This program intends to create an environment of emotional and physical safety for children and adolescents who are behaviorally challenged and the adults who work with them. The program helps providers who work with youth in any area of human service, including schools, child welfare, hospitals, mental health, developmental disabilities, community programs, group homes, social services, and autistic programs. Participants are taught preventative strategies that can decrease the need for physical restraint and are instructed on how to develop and implement management and relationship skills to minimize tension and build and sustain a physically and emotionally safe, calm, and caring environment. HWC was created in 1984 and has been implemented in more than 2,000 agencies and schools by over 100,000 practitioners in 50 States and in United States Territories, Canada, and Europe.
